“Stop the pollution quickly. Don’t make the environment sick.”
Accelerating the connect for the world to be a better place, on 25th February, 2020 the students of The Foundation School, class III had an interactive Skype session with their peers at Novomikhaylovskiy State Secondary School, Tuapse, Russia.
The session commenced by greeting each other with an excited loud cry of ‘Hi’ followed by playing mystery Skype. It was an ice-breaker for both the sets of students!
Later, we showcased a presentation on the United Nations’ SDG#6 which calls for clean water and sanitation for all people. Access to water and sanitation is a basic human right and it is a critical sustainable developmental challenge in the near future.
The schools exchanged several facts and figures relating to present water and sanitation conditions concerning their countries. Beside the set targets, we also discussed a few practices which can be adopted to safeguard the long-term availability of clean water and create a holistic environment for the present and future generations.
Our students sang a beautiful song on ‘Sanitation’ for their friends across the screen, followed by a melodious Russian song by their new pals from Russia. A self-created video on the methods implemented at our School to sustain, recycle and reuse water was shared with the students across the screen to elucidate how the Foundationeers are stepping forward to bring a change in their surroundings.
Keeping the SDGs in mind, the students had a one on one discussion based on the information and awareness regimes in both the countries in relation to water and sanitation facilities available currently. The Foundationeers detailed the measures taken with the help of their vibrant posters.
As the session came to a close, both the schools pledged to follow the path of sustainable development and follow up on the SDGs set by the United Nations to make it a better place for you and for me and the entire human race.
The session concluded with both the classes wishing each other adieu with a promise to meet again.
