As the saying goes, the most valuable life lessons are free.

Grandparents are the best teachers when it comes to learning valuable lessons. They provide emotional and physical support in today’s fast-paced world. As customary at our School, each year on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the students observe Sarvodaya Diwas together with their grandparents. This year the occasion was observed virtually on 5 October 2021. The event consisted of dance, video messages, a short play and poems. The programme opened with the School song by the school choir. Dulcet voices touching hearts brought broad smiles on the faces of the adoring grandparents.

The function began with the welcoming of the grandparents by the speakers of the day,  Kashvini and Tanmay of class 5. Acting Principal Ms Sukhmeen Cheema, acknowledged the gathering with a short welcome message filled with endearments and gratitude for the extended The Foundation School family.

The event continued with Hussain and Hassan of class 6 who enthralled the audience with their synchronized voices sung in homage to Gandhiji. This was followed by a presentation by Hrishita of class 7, on Lal Bahadur Shastri, recalling his devotion to his motherland  and his journey to gain freedom.

Grandparents' Day is the time to cherish the bonds we share with our grandparents. To showcase their importance, students curated short video messages that depicted the notes of love and portrayed feelings of deep affection.

The event continued with an impactful presentation by Sanvi Chaurasiya of class 5 about Mahatma Gandhi and his contribution that left a mark on generations across the world. Students of class 5 showcased a story in Hindi on ‘ My love to you, Dadi’ that filled the hearts of many with emotion. It described anecdotes from the journey of parent to grandparent. Thanking the grandparents who nurtured growth, Izaan of class 3 recited a verse of gratitude.

A game, 'Tune the Lyrics', uplifted the spirits of everyone as memories of the melodies came flooding back. Hrishita of class 8 presented a dance to ‘Vande Mataram’ to pay homage to our precious martyrs.

The occasion concluded with all our hearts kindled with new joy. All our guests thanked School for the joyous event filled with learning for the students. The values that are carried down the generations by the precious bonds with grandparents were reiterated at this glorious celebration of them.
